I have been watching a whole lot of movies these days, feeling pretty lost and aimless. Kinda wasted those weeks on some really terrible shows, sigh. I'm starting on a new project! I just realized how little I draw, in comparison to others. I really need to practice, but why am I so so lazy. Sigh.

Wish me luck!
I love sleeping too much so my next self-project would be on "sleep" too. Haha

Doodling (daydream)

Argh, probably I should have drawn on some proper sketch book?

Haha, I better get back to Chemistry studying :D

Futurism

I got hooked up by Cubism and Futurism when it presented me so many unknowns and different perspectives while I did my S3 assignment based on Marcel Duchamp’s Nude Descending A Staircase 1912.

(right) Umberto Boccioni’s Unique Forms of Continuity 1913

To work on Futurism was entirely a random chose, but after I work on it, I somehow found out why fate made me choose it. It was too alike to my preferences, and it plays with a lot of elements I particularly love. Also, Futurism is similar to a photography, where it overlaps the still images together to present a moving still.

It's also lovely, on how it's abstraction make the piece breathtaking at sight.
The lines, shapes as well :D

The S3 assignment

Depicting NY girls doing NanZhongQuan; I would probably rework on another Futurist piece at the end of the year as I'm not satisfied with this. While working on, I was too focused on making it alike to a Futurist style, but somehow forgot the most important element in a Futurist piece (movement), thus for this one above, it appears more like a flat two-dimensional painting, with so spirit of movement in it.

S3 EOY assignment

Somehow, I managed to incorporate the element of movement into this piece as well, where the shadow slowly evolves into a bird. Though I'm not contented with the skill I rendered for this piece, I like the concept pretty much. And as you can see (I realised it only these days, all thanks to LiYi), I unconsciously followed on this idea for my coursework. The element of leaving the background clean and white, and the concept of dreams. It is interesting to see how one's work actually evolves to another slowly over a period of time, how your skill improves, how you think differently before, how you have a similar preference previously or how you still are absorbed in a certain belief.

I wanted to continue working on something similar for coursework, and did some preparatory studies and thereafter, an original futurist piece (second one)

In Search;

I've currently been into finding my own drawing style and simply falling into my own quirky obsessions. This is a series of my drawing, which plays with lines, solid colours and shapes. I have an obsession (or should I say laziness) to simply draw the outlines for the hair of the figure. I like the space I leave unfilled, which at the same time, serves as a contrast between the details I render for the facial features: thus, creating a pretty balanced and harmonized image

Portraits

I have always had a thing for portraits, maybe it's because it's what have been working at all the time. Here are some of the portraits I've done. "There's no vision without technique", this quote has been with me since a long time ago and I've still been greatly influenced by it. In order to make greater improvements, I have been exceptionally into practices. Thus, my obsession with portraits, since I am determined to draw facial features (still am). This has resulted in my incapability to draw limbs eg for fashion drawings.

Life at a glance

I've decided to consolidate all the photographs I want to post about into one post, since I realised I have too many posts on photog!

Class Gathering:

I realised how difficult it is to shoot small moving objects, and a regret: I've entirely forgot about the composition, the best lighting and direction while I shot them. Fail.

Group Gathering (s):

I'm absolutely interested in light flares, but am still trying my hand to get better shots.

See my obsession with solid colour planes, lines, composition!

Track and Field

P.S. I suddenly was reminded about my convo with Liyi, I didn't edit any of the pictures here, (just in case you were wondering about photoshop or anything else- I don't know how to use them AT ALL. Fail) except for cropping for the two (only) track and field shots. Nothing for the rest :D

And for the other photog posts, I didn't edit them neither :D Maybe for cropping? (one or two), because I'm stuck with my body lens. Hahah
